Anyone know where I can get the official Ford fast charging adapter?
I missed out on the free one they offered earlier, and I’m a bit worried about warranty issues if I use an aftermarket adapter. It looks like it’s sold out on Ford’s online store, but was it ever for sale at all?
People who ordered the fast charging adapter over 6 months ago (like me) are still waiting. Ford’s delivered around 20,000 adapters so far, but there were over a hundred thousand orders six months back, and I bet there’s even more now. They told me December, but I’m guessing it’ll actually show up mid-next year with how slow things are moving.

Oh, that’s a shame! I didn’t try ordering, just noticed it was available to add to the cart. I was hoping it would be an option since my adapter is part of the ‘bad batch,’ and I was hoping to have a backup before Thanksgiving!

Wait, I just bought a Flash…didn’t it come with an adapter? Or do I need to buy one now?
Nope! For a bit, they offered some free charging on the Blue Oval network, then they had free adapters, and now it’s free home charger installs. It just depends on when you bought.
There’s no issue with warranty if you use a 3rd party adapter. Ford doesn’t even make these adapters themselves, Tesla does. Even if you used the Ford-branded adapter and something happened, it wouldn’t be covered the same way any 3rd party accessory wouldn’t be.
Anyway, if your truck’s charging port gets damaged, that’s covered under warranty, but not if the adapter itself causes the problem. That’s true for both Ford and 3rd-party adapters. It’s kind of funny you’re concerned about Ford’s adapter having issues since they’re the ones with the recalls, not the 3rd-party ones!
The ‘official’ adapter isn’t any better than a 3rd-party one other than it was free for some when they bought their truck. Honestly, I doubt Ford will keep making these beyond the orders they already have. As you noticed, they’ve stopped offering it as an add-on or freebie with a new truck.
@Finley
Could you point me to something that clearly says 3rd-party adapters won’t void the warranty? Ford’s site says, ‘Only use NACS DC adapters sold or provided by Ford or Tesla for use at Tesla Superchargers.’
@Colby
That’s just legal wording to avoid people using cheap or uncertified adapters that could be unreliable. They’re only saying that non-Tesla adapters might not work correctly since they aren’t made by Tesla.
No matter what brand you use, if the adapter itself causes any damage, it won’t be covered under warranty—even Ford’s own. However, if your truck’s charging port has issues during fast charging, that’s covered, provided the adapter wasn’t the cause.
It’s kind of ironic you’re worried about Ford’s own adapter causing issues since, honestly, it’s the one with the recall! None of the 3rd-party ones have that issue.
