Just heard that Ford will be including the Charge Station Pro with all new EV purchases/leases starting October 1. Anyone else know more details? Sounds like a solid deal for those getting a new Ford EV soon.
Do they include the installation too? That’s a pretty sweet deal. I have a 22 and had to pay for the install myself.

No details yet on what’s considered a ‘standard’ installation, but I’m guessing it’s just the basic setup if your panel is close by.
@Reese
According to InsideEV, it covers up to 80 feet of wiring for a 60-amp circuit.

@Sky
80 feet? That’s a long run!
@Sky
LOL, that might not even be code. It’s an 80A charger, and technically should be wired for 100A.

Yeah, they’re not handing out Charge Station Pros to everyone. Probably giving out the Connected Charge Stations for most installs.
@Sky
The announcement does say Charge Station Pro though. (Check the screenshot in the first post of the thread.)

Oops, my bad! Missed that part. Looks like it’s legit then.
@Reese
Yeah, I doubt that includes something like a 50’ 6-gauge cable run or panel upgrades. But it’s still a solid deal, easily saving you $1,000 when you factor in the charger and basic install.

If you want the full 80A setup, you’ll need 2/3 AWG wiring. That’s what’s needed for proper installation.
@Zander
Wow, 2/3 AWG? Didn’t know it needed that heavy of a gauge.
@Reese
I had to do it myself and it cost around $800. Free would’ve been way better.
Props to Ford for trying to push more EVs. A lot of people get stuck on the cost of installing a home charger.
Just bought my Lightning a few weeks ago… guess I’m out of luck, huh?

Same here. I bought mine a week before the $10k price drop.

Oof, that’s rough.

Yup, I got mine right before the $7500 rebate hit. Still salty about that!
Here are a couple more links with details on the deal:
https://insideevs.com/news/735480/ford-ev-power-promise-charger/
https://www.axios.com/2024/09/30/free-ev-charging-station-ford-electric-vehicles
- Promo runs from Oct 1 to Jan 2
- Includes a Level 2 charger and installation (80 ft run for a 60A circuit). Anything extra like panel upgrades or digging is not covered.
- If you already have a charger, you can opt for $2,000 cash instead.
@Sky
I’d take the $2k in a heartbeat. There are better chargers for less, and most people don’t need 80A for home charging.
