I’m in the middle of negotiating with a dealer right now. The online price after rebates was $55k, but the lowest he says he can give me is $64k out the door, and that includes $5k of dealer add-ons that I don’t want. I know $64k is too much. How much are you guys paying for yours?
Now the guy isn’t even texting me back after I tried to push him lower. I’ve already gone to the lot and checked out the truck with the salesman I’m dealing with.
@Gale
Every car or truck I’ve ever bought was from somewhere else. I flew from MA to Chicago for my GTI to save $6k and turned it into a mini vacation. I also drove 200 miles to CT for my truck and saved over $9k. It’s totally worth expanding your search.

$10k difference? Forget that! I’d buy one online, fly to pick it up, and still save $9k.
I bought a 2021 XLT 4WD with 26,000 miles, 36-gallon tank, 3.5 EB, Supercrew, Max Tow, 302A, and 6.5ft bed for $45k in Denver (and I live in Florida). You don’t need to pay for that depreciation.

My dad bought a 2023 XLT with only 800 miles for $46k. He buys from the same dealership every few years for my mom, so maybe that helped.
@Murphy
That dealership was desperate to get rid of their 2023s. I started looking right after he did, and they had a 2023 XL crew cab for $25k, but it was gone by the time I got there. Now all that’s left are 2024 XLTs ranging from $50k to $80k.
@Finnley
Check out CarGurus. I bought my 2019 F-150 Platinum for a great price there. CarGurus breaks down the prices for you and shows if you’re getting a good deal or not. I found my truck in Michigan, and they shipped it to me in Florida within two days. I’d definitely use CarGurus again.
Exactly. Some dealers won’t budge on those add-ons, even if it means losing the sale. I was looking at a Passport for my wife, and the salesman wouldn’t come down. The price we wanted was only $1k less than his offer, and that was the price of their worthless add-ons like nitrogen inflation. Another dealer will make you a better deal.
@August
The dealer probably hopes someone else will walk in and pay the extra $10k without any hassle. It’s the end of the month, and he’s got to get two more trucks out the door in the next 48 hours to hit his bonus. He doesn’t want to waste time haggling over a sale that doesn’t help him meet his goal. But mark my words, come October, when he misses his bonus, he’ll be calling you with a lower offer to get a jump on the next month.
@Murphy
Haha, I’ve heard of this happening. A friend of mine got a crazy deal on a Silverado because the dealer was about to miss a quota and would have taken a huge hit from GM if they didn’t sell a few more cars.
