If there was a manual, I would offer more.
To be very honest, I wouldn’t accept any payment for my 1999 Explorer, which has 210,000 miles, a V8, all-wheel drive, and a single owner. Over the years, we’ve asked for too much, and it has always complied. A trustworthy vintage car is a gift from God.
I still think that my 1997 Explorer 5.0 AWD is the best car ever. It accomplished all I wanted it to, as you mentioned. pulled boats, wood-stove-filled trailers, mulch, dog-hauling vehicles, off-the-beaten-path hunting, etc. utterly adored it. I had to send the frame on its way since it had become so rusty that I could no longer rely on it.
I adore my 1997! Purchased it with 170k miles, 5.0 AWD, Eddie Bauer, and little worn in 1998. I’m not sure if I would sell it for $10,000 if someone offered.
I spent ten years driving my mother’s 1998 V8. AWD XLT in Cherry Red. When I sold it, it had 242k miles on it. The arm rest on the center console was the only item I had to repair several times.
Even though it’s clean, that’s a big distance. $7–$8k.
Half the distance would easily translate into $10–$12k in this market.
When the motor blows out, it will cost $5–7k to rebuild. Remember that at all times.
29, 000 kilometers on a vehicle. Yes, it is clean, but it is still quite a distance and about thirty years old. $5k at most; don’t be shocked if they request $10k.
29-year-old truck with 210k miles. Yes, it is clean, but it is still quite a distance and about thirty years old. $5k at most; don’t be shocked if they request $10k.
