I’d avoid the big vertical screen. It’s getting phased out in newer models (see the Expedition and Lincoln). Plus, in my experience, it’s just not great.

Really? It looks cool, but are there more issues with it?
@Milo
I think Ford is phasing it out more for cost reasons. They’ll replace it under warranty, so I wouldn’t avoid it entirely. I haven’t heard of many issues with it.

A lot of folks on the Lightning Facebook group have issues with responsiveness, 360 cameras, and getting locked out of HVAC controls. I experienced similar issues with test drives and loaners.
@Ember
I’ve not had any issues with mine, just a tiny lag when starting up, but nothing major.

I love the big screen. People who ride with me for the first time are always impressed. I’ve never had tech problems with it, no lag or anything like that.
@Milo
The big screen is slow and unoptimized. Owners constantly post issues about it and the 360 camera. Plus, I prefer physical buttons for HVAC. The smaller screen is faster and more practical.

I have the vertical screen, and while I like it for the most part, it does have issues. For example, the cooled seat controls are laggy, and the default is heated seats, which is annoying on a hot day. Also, the screen takes a few seconds to load after startup, which can be frustrating when you need the 360 cameras in a tight spot.
That said, it’s great for Apple CarPlay, and the vertical layout makes it easier to read. I’ve had vehicles with horizontal screens, and I prefer this one for CarPlay.
I went with the XLT 312A. Didn’t need the glass roof and preferred tactile controls.
The Flash is essentially a Lariat with cloth seats instead of leather.
If they sold an XLT with air-conditioned seats, I’d have been all over it.
