Really thought things would’ve improved by now with these new trucks. Guess not.
Rear main leaks on these are rare. If it happens again, you might have a bigger issue with the engine.
The sales manager driving it 1800 miles with a leak? That’s unacceptable. I’d have walked away from the deal.

Once the papers are signed, you’re stuck. I looked into Illinois laws, and there’s no easy way out after that.

Still can’t believe he didn’t notice the leak. Feels shady to me.
My 2020 had a rear main leak at 2,000 miles. Dealer fixed it, and it’s been fine since. They said it must have been an issue with how the seal was installed.
Plastic parts are just a bad idea overall.
Hope the diagnosis is right. Rear main leaks on these trucks aren’t exactly common.
Probably the oil pan. These composite pans are tricky to seal right. How much oil are you actually losing?
RMS gang checking in! Mine’s a 2012 though.
Bought a new truck that came with electrical issues they couldn’t fix after 10 attempts. Now waiting on a replacement. If that one’s bad, I’m done with this brand.
At least it’s covered under warranty. That’s what it’s there for.
Does the 2.7 have those newer quarter-turn oil plugs?

Not sure. I didn’t really pay attention when I was under the truck.
It happens. My 2015 had the same issue from day one. My new Explorer has leaks in the axle, oil pan, and transfer case. Go figure.
This is why older vehicles are often better. The build quality on new ones just isn’t there.
I bought a demo vehicle once, and the rear main seal blew before I hit 5,000 miles. Never again. People treat demo cars terribly.

Demo just means the finance manager drove it before selling it. Still frustrating though.
