Plasti-dip tailgate … how did it hold up after a year?

@Rowen
Those trims are the definition of overdone. A little chrome on the grille or small accents is fine, but that big plate looks like a toy design.

If it were my truck, I’d color-match the tailgate and paint the letters black. That would look amazing.

Honestly, I love the chrome applique. It makes the truck pop.

I did the same on my Limited trim and even painted the letters to match. It looks awesome. Forget the haters!

I did something similar back in 2020, and it still looks great. The original Platinum plate is just too flashy for a lot of folks.

I tried plasti-dip on a car once, but it didn’t age well. Any little chip or tear made it a pain to repair, and the sun faded it quickly. For a high-end truck, I think a better option would’ve been matte black paint. Plasti-dip is better for cheap cars or temporary fixes.

This reminds me of the back end of a Roush F-150. Not bad at all.

Honestly, I’d remove the tailgate and get it painted professionally. It just feels like a more permanent solution.

You know you can order the truck from the factory without the shiny tailgate piece, right?

I’m sorry, but this looks terrible.
