Remote start, how did I do it?

I bought a used 2018 F150 with a 2.7 EB engine. It’ll be 2 years this January. It has a tow package and off-road package but not many other extras. Three times this summer, I walked away from the truck while pressing the lock button a few times and the engine started! Now I can’t get it to work again. I tried following the manual but no luck.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a trick I don’t know about?

The truck has a keyed ignition and a 3-button remote (lock, unlock, and alarm).

Maybe the previous owner put in an MPC remote start kit. Try pressing lock, unlock, lock.

Thanks, it actually worked! Someone else mentioned something called StartX too.

@Marlowe
Glad it worked! I installed an MPC remote start on my old F150.

I’ve got an aftermarket remote start that activates by pressing the lock button three times in 10 seconds. Maybe your truck has that?

Do you have a key ignition or push start?

Key ignition.

Key ignition.

There might be a small button near the keyhole that you can press twice to start it. I had one on my old truck, but it was hard to see because it was worn down.

That’s what the manual said for the factory remote start, but it didn’t work for me.

Lock, then press Start twice = Remote Start. It’s a shame this forum doesn’t allow photos. The Start button is right next to the red Alarm button.

I thought I was going nuts when I couldn’t upload a pic! But I tried something else that worked, thanks to another user—it’s called StartX. It’s plug and play.

Have you tried using the FordPass app? You might be able to start it from there.

I have the same thing! It’s not a button—it’s literally lock, unlock, lock, and it starts. Took me two years to figure it out.
