@Ash
It might take a little time for it to relearn your driving habits, but it worked for me after about a tank of gas. Shifts perfectly now!
@Lyle
I’ve got an ‘18 2.7L with 81k, and I know exactly what you’re talking about. Glad it’s not just me. Other than that, no problems.
@Lyle
Same here with my ‘18 2.7L. I get the 3-4 gear slip sometimes, and I’ve noticed a clunk when shifting from Park to Reverse. Other than that, no complaints.

That clunk from Park to Reverse freaks me out every time!
@Lyle
I sold mine last June, but yeah, it used to do that occasionally. Not enough to bother me, though.
@Lyle
Apparently, all Ford and GM trucks with the 10-speed transmission do this. My truck does it when I slow down, take a turn, and speed up again. There’s always a clunk when it shifts back up.

Good to know! Guess I’ll just keep an eye on it and hope the transmission holds up past 100k miles.
@Lyle
I’m at 102k miles and no major issues so far. Someone shared a fix earlier, so I’m going to give that a try too.
@Lyle
My 3.5L gets clunky when I floor it. Just got the Forscan OBD connector and plan to reset the transmission tables. I also read you can reset it by disconnecting the battery and draining the system by turning the headlights on.

Thanks for posting this two weeks after I bought a 2018.
I’ve had my 2018 for 4 years, and it’s been perfect. 2.7 EcoBoost for the win!
Same here!

I’m counting the days until I can sell my ‘18… just need to get it fixed first.

I’ve put 100k on my ‘18 with no issues. It’s a great truck. Whoever made that list doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

I’ve got an ‘18 3.5L with 64k miles. It’s had nearly every recall for that year, and my transmission failed at 63k. Got it replaced, and now, less than a month later, I’m back in the shop for wheel bearings and AC problems. The AC compressor basically disintegrated and sent metal through the system. The engine fan’s been running on high ever since. I also can’t believe the wheel bearings went out already, but I’ve heard it’s common with Fords. I love the truck, but I don’t think it’ll make it to 200k miles. I’ll probably sell it before the warranty runs out.
@Drew
Dang, I just bought an ‘18 3.5L with 61k miles. I hope yours is just a rare case and not the norm. Mine’s been fine so far, but I got the extended warranty just in case.

Good call on the warranty. Mine’s covered, so I’m not paying out of pocket, but it’s still disappointing. When I asked the dealership how common it was to see a transmission replacement at 62k miles, they said, ‘We’ve seen it before.’
@Drew
Definitely glad I went for the extended coverage.
@Drew
I’ve got an ‘18 3.5L too. Bought it new in 2017 and have done lots of towing. Here’s what’s gone wrong:
- Clunky shifting at 10k miles, replaced the valve body, no problems since.
- Passenger door handle stopped locking/unlocking before the warranty ran out. Never got it fixed.
- Sunroof broke, but it was covered under warranty (make sure to grease those seals!).
- Had some recalls, but the dealer messed up and the rear door flew open on the highway.
- Cam phasers replaced.
- Windshield started to delaminate but not covered under warranty.
- Leather seat got a hole but that was covered.
All in all, not too bad with 75k miles on it now.
@Kelley
What do you use to grease the sunroof?
