Tow mirrors for an 18-20 King Ranch… what’s the deal?

I’m shopping for an 18-20 King Ranch and I’ve got a question about adding tow mirrors. If the truck doesn’t already have them, is it really going to cost me around $1500 to add them? And when I’m looking at window stickers, what should I be checking for in terms of power telescope or other options? Appreciate any help you can give me.

Here’s a random photo I found online—this isn’t my truck.

Finding used mirrors with all the right options for your truck is tricky. Here’s what you should know about the features available:

  • Regular or tow mirror
  • Power mirrors (controlled by buttons on the door)
  • Heated mirrors (controlled by the left-bottom button in the 9-button vent selector)
  • Turn signals in the mirror
  • Puddle lights (turn on with door opening or key fob unlock)
  • Spotlights (controlled by buttons above the headlight dial)
  • Power fold (button above power mirrors)
  • Power telescope (button above power mirrors)
  • Auto-dimming (driver’s side and rearview mirror)
  • 360 camera
  • BLIS (Blind Spot Information System)
  • Temperature sensor (passenger mirror, depends on the year)
  • 22-pin and 8-pin plugs

Check out Boost Auto Parts. They let you choose all the features you need and even add extras your truck didn’t come with, like power fold or power telescope. Here’s a link: Ford Mirror Parts - Choose Your Ford Mirror Head

@Remy
Just a heads-up, though. Adding power fold mirrors to a truck that didn’t come with them isn’t plug-and-play. You’ll need extra wiring and power modules for it to work. It’s doable, but not as simple as swapping mirrors.

If your truck doesn’t already have them, Boost Auto makes great aftermarket replacements.

I’ve got Boost mirrors, and I love them.

Does Boost make tow mirrors with cameras for the 360 system? I know they don’t for 2021-2024.

@Reagan
They do for 2018 models.

Yeah, Boost Auto is where I got the $1500 estimate. I was hoping I was wrong, lol.

@Frost
They run sales a few times a year for 20-25% off if that helps.

I needed fully loaded mirrors and waited for a good used set on eBay. Ford wanted $1700, but I found a good OEM set for around $900.

How did you figure out what features the used mirrors had?

You need two mirrors to tow, obviously.

I asked for advice, not jokes, but thanks anyway.

I got mine from Amazon. They aren’t OEM, but they were direct plug-and-play. They have blinkers and blind-spot features, but no power fold or telescope. My truck didn’t have those features to begin with, so it was fine for me. They cost about $250-$300.

Sorry, I bought them 7 years ago. Just search for your truck’s year and tow mirrors, and you should find them.

Boost Auto mirrors are hands down the best. eBay ones are garbage. Long story, but I’ve learned way too much about tow mirrors. A set from Boost runs about $550 depending on the setup. Mine has painted covers, tinted lenses, and sequential turn signals.

I bought these mirrors from Amazon. They have built-in turn signals and defrost. Way cheaper than OEM and super easy to swap out.
