I need to replace my 2018 F-150 and I’m thinking about getting a Lightning. I checked one out (the Flash model) and really liked it. I also looked at the Powerboost hybrid, which also seems like a solid upgrade from what I have now. The strange thing is, every salesman I’ve talked to at the three Ford dealerships I visited is trying to steer me away from the Lightning. Is there something I don’t know about? Are there too many issues, or is it just not making them enough money? I’m confused because they don’t outright trash the Lightning, but all seem to push me towards the hybrid.
For current Lightning owners, would you buy it again?

The Lightning is hands down the best vehicle I’ve ever had.
How much does it cost to charge, and how often do you do it?
Depends on how much you drive. I charge 1-2 times a week up to 90%. At home, my cost per mile is about $0.075. I’ve had the truck for 20 months and put 28,000 miles on it.
I’d buy it again 100%. The only reason not to would be if you tow big stuff often or drive long distances regularly. I tow a small trailer a few times a year and don’t mind charging on road trips, but if you can’t charge at home or work, it’s not ideal. I only have Level 1 at home, but free Level 2 at work, so it’s fine for now. But yeah, Level 1 would suck long-term.
Yes, I’d definitely buy it again. If you’re wondering why dealers aren’t pushing it, it’s probably because there’s not much service profit to be made on EVs. In two years, I’ve only spent $12 to replace the cabin filters myself.
@Hadi
That shouldn’t affect the sales guys since their commission isn’t based on service. If anything, they should want to sell the Lightning because it’s expensive and takes up space on the lot.

Dealers make very little on new car sales. Their profits come from service, parts, and financing. They need oil changes and repairs to stay in business.

Dealerships probably have bonuses on non-EV sales, and salespeople will always follow the money.

A lot of businesses are trying to figure out how to handle EVs. Dealerships don’t make money from them like they do with gas cars, so they’re trying to hold onto the old model as long as possible.
