@Harlan
I have a similar commute and can charge at home. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. We use it as our family vehicle since our kids are into sports. With your commute, you probably won’t need to rely on public charging unless you travel. It’s easy to plan for it if you do.
Dealers don’t make much on EVs. They’d rather sell you something with more markup.
I love my Lightning. It’s smooth, fast, has tons of storage, and even powered my house during an outage recently.
The only downside is that towing can hurt range. Pulling a 7,000 lb trailer reduces range a lot. If you tow often, maybe look at something else, but otherwise, the Lightning is amazing.
@Vern
Not sure what they make now, but dealers used to get 10% on every Lightning. The only reason they wouldn’t sell one is if the salesman isn’t EV certified. My dealership only had one certified guy.
@Vern
That’s a huge battery, though! And the price is even bigger…
Dealers don’t make any money on service for EVs. They tried to sell me a service package, but I just laughed. EV maintenance is basically tire rotations and visual checks.
Best truck I’ve ever owned. I’d buy it again, no doubt.
I’d buy it over and over again. It’s my favorite vehicle ever.
Dealers just want you to come in for oil changes every 5,000 miles. And yeah, they don’t make as much on the Lightning. But it’s the best truck I’ve ever had. As long as you can charge at home or work, it’s awesome.
Yes, I’d buy it again. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Definitely yes.
I’d buy another Lightning, no question.
I’d lease it because I’m not sure what EVs will be worth in 5 or 10 years.

I don’t worry about depreciation. I just drive my vehicles until it costs too much to fix them.
@Remy
That’s easy to say about gas engines, but we don’t know how well EV batteries and motors will last long-term. I’ll lease for now and maybe buy one later.

We have a pretty good idea now, thanks to Tesla. They’ve been doing it for a while.
@Remy
Electric motors have been around longer than gas engines. And batteries aren’t exactly new either.
Salespeople push whatever gives them the best margins. They probably just don’t know much about the Lightning.
100% yes. I could’ve bought a Rivian, Cybertruck, or Chevy, but I picked the Lightning and it’s been amazing. If something happened to mine, I’d get another one.
I’d buy it again, but only used. The depreciation has been rough, but otherwise it’s been awesome.
If you lived nearby, I’d sell you the gray Flash I have on my lot!
