Had some Tesla owners chat with me about my truck while I was charging. They were all positive and seemed really impressed by it. However, the A2Z charger threw errors and didn’t work. Luckily, I had my Rivian adapter, which worked without any problems.
I’ve used Tesla chargers a bunch of times without any problems. But one time, a guy started flipping me off because two Lightnings and two Teslas were taking up most of the spots. He didn’t stop until I left! Some people just need to chill.
@Max
I’m planning to get a Lightning soon, so I guess I’ll have to flip myself off too!
Which adapter have you been using?

Just the one Ford gives for free.

V4 chargers have longer cables and they come out from the left instead of on the right. I charged last week, and only one space. There is a place in NJ that just installed like 20-30 chargers
@Zen
Where exactly is this in NJ?

It’s a 40-stall supercharger station near this spot: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BxHXvBBMote4H4Wm7
@Max
Sorry that happened to you. Some people just have to be rude for no reason.
@Max
I try to park in the far-right or gapped spaces if possible. Usually, Teslas fill those up quickly, though.
@Max
Yikes, sounds awkward. I guess this kind of thing will get better as EVs become more common.
@Max
Next time just blast that TikTok audio, ‘I’m carrying a gun with me, West Virginia down to Tennessee!’
@Max
At LSU, people park their Teslas at charging spots without actually charging. They just want the parking space!
@Max
You should’ve driven by and yelled, ‘Does that thing come with a dental dam?’
Some Tesla owners getting mad at Lightning drivers is pretty ironic. It was Tesla’s choice to open their network and use short charging cords, so if they’re upset, they should take it up with Elon.

It’d be nice if all EVs had a standard charge port location. I think front and center would be great, even though it’s more vulnerable to damage.

Tesla’s placement makes sense—it’s where fuel doors usually are. Rear driver’s side keeps the cable out of the way while charging. But yeah, I don’t have a strong preference.
True, but a passenger-side port could be handy for street parking in cities. Maybe in the future, EVs will have dual charging ports.
@River
Probably not. Dual ports would require expensive wiring and switches.

It could still work for home charging or overnight street parking. Some brands already offer it in certain models.

To be fair, Tesla designed their chargers for Teslas, not every EV. Opening the network came after most were already built.
Is there any kind of extension cord we can use for Tesla chargers? I’m about to buy a Lightning and was wondering if we can park either way to make it easier.
